What’s Up Abilene? officially begins on Showmates!

Ruben and Veronica are kicking off a new recurring Showmates segment built around something simple: showing some love to the people, businesses, food, entertainment and things happening around Abilene.

And there was only one proper way to launch it...

BBQ. 😂🔥

For our first local food spotlight, we're showing some love to our friends at Lil Bros BBQ. Angel hooked us up with a serious spread, and yes—we put those Texas Twinkies, ribs, sausage and Texas candy to the test LIVE on the show.

Spoiler: not much talking happened while Veronica was eating. 😂

Then we get into the entertainment side of Showmates, including what we're watching, what's happening around town, and our main conversation:

HEROES — SEASON 2

We're rewatching Heroes together and breaking down Season 2—from Peter Petrelli and Sylar to Claire, West, Maya, Alejandro, Hiro and the Company. And somehow we also find time to discuss streaming subscriptions, The Office, Blockbuster, Mexican weddings, and why telling somebody to “calm down” almost never produces the desired result.

Basically... it's Showmates.

SHOWMATES is where a husband and wife talk about the shows, movies, food, places and random things they're experiencing together—and invite you into the conversation.

Have a local restaurant, food truck, event, artist or something happening around Abilene that we should know about?

Tell us.

And if there's a show or movie you think we need to watch, drop that too. We're always looking for the next binge.
